ICk that is gross! There are designated areas for smokers to be on the ship, and as a matter of fact, all staterooms are designated as non-smoking.
You should have marched staright down to the Guest Relations desk and told them about your problem. They would have fixed it right away, most likely by either telling the people above you to be more considerate or by moving you and your party to a comparable room-might have even had an upgrade for the inconvenience of it all.
