How do you feel about paying gratuities for your teen aged children? I know of some people who pay for the aduls and not for the teens or kids. Is this approppriate?

Hi,
I look at it this way... Gratuities are per person. If there are 3 or 4 people in a cabin those extra beds have to be made. At the dinner table the same service goes into each seating. Sometimes more with children. Maybe some cruisers don't look at it that way. I usually pre-pay and get vouchers at the end of the cruise.

Without a doubt, kids should pay the same as adults. They create more work on so many levels. I have written extensively about this before... you might want to look here:

And... there is another thread about this exact topic floating around, but after ten minutes of searching I can't find it!

If you're kids are eating, showering, sleeping in a bed or creating any other work for the waiters or cabin stewards, then you should leave the recommended "tip" for each person. If you leave them at home, then don't tip.
Yes, tips add up to an expense at the end of the cruise, but these guys and girls work very hard to make your trip great and their primary income is your tip money (would you work 14 hour days for $150/mth + tips). Don't short change them!!!

Have a great cruise.
Jim
