Adventure of the Seas...Oct 30, 2005

I'm cruising aboard the Adventure of the Seas this October and wanted to know what we could do for the day in San Juan upon our return as we won't be flying out until that evening. I thought we'd stay close to the airport so that we're not rushing to catch our flight at 7:00pm. Any hotel/resort suggestions that will allow us a "day pass" and maybe a cut rate on a room due to our only using the room for the afternoon.

I was on the Adventure in Sept 2004 and stayed in San Juan for 2 extra days after the cruise. I took a tour to the rain forest. It was fantastic... make sure you take a tour and don't do it on your own. Tour guide explained alot of what we saw and took a side trip to a public beach for some inexpensive pina colodas and meat pies for a very inexpensive lunch. I walked through Old San Juan and saw the forts... did nothing for me would have been better off staying on the beach for the day. Also.. be careful with the Taxis, the drivers will try to rip you off!

Thank you for the tip on the taxis! We'll keep our heads up! How specifically did they try to trip you off?

The taxis in San Juan charge by the area they go to. However this is not posted! We got charged $20 when we should have paid only $10. After that, I always asked how much was the fair before I accepted the ride. Just keep a heads up thats all.

RE: What to do in San Juan. . . .We were on AOS in August, 2005. . .We spent an extra day (the day before) in San Juan. To be honest, I don't remember seeing much around the airport. We stayed at the Marriott in the Condado area, and it was a 15-20 minute drive from the airport. Old San Juan was a 5-minute bus ride from the hotel. We did not do the rainforest, but we heard rave reviews on it. I did enjoy walking through Old San Juan. I agree with the tip on avoiding the taxis if you can. The bus ride was only 25 cents per person, but a taxi would hae cost $10. Even the hotel warned us about that. Have fun!!

Thanks for the response mooneydiva. We are sooo looking forward to our cruise at the end of the month!! I'm looking to do the rain forest tour....have heard wonderful reviews!
