Question about formal nights!

Hi everyone,

leaving on Liberty of the Seas next sunday...yay!

Wanted to know...how long are these "formal" nights? When do they usually start? Is it just one free cocktail and appetizer? or dinner?

Hi Michelle028...Congrats on your upcoming cruise on the Liberty..
If you are on a 7 day cruise you will have two formal evenings. Cruisers dress in various attire for the evening from tux/cocktail dress to suits and/or sport jackets and tie to less informal..If there is a meet the Captain, you will have a chance to meet the Captain and some of the Officers and have a cocktail. There are so many opportunities to have your picture taken that you can purchase. There isn't much difference from the other dinners in the main dining room except a little more extravagant.

is there usually a Captain's reception held on the same day as the Formal nights?

Yes, on my past 2 cruises, there has been a captain's reception on the same night as the formal night. As Peter stated, this is your chance to have your picture taken with the captain and meet some of his staff. Complimentary champagne for those 21 and over usually is served.

Formal attire is usually for the Captain's reception as well as dinner. After these events, you can go and change to casual attire.

Change is right ! I will usually sit through the show and then can't wait to change into something comfortable to hang out around the ship.
