At least when RCCL came out with the announcement, they excluded the cruises that were paid in full. Maybe you'll luck out and Carnival will follow suit.

OK...It has been a few weeks since I last posted on this topic and have checked my online account...I upgraded an existing booking made before the deadline and it hasn't posted a credit or anything...should I call? I made the booking by myself on the RCCL website.

Give them a call. You'll be getting an on board credit. I didn't see a credit either, but when I'm on board I'll have my OBC. I was told this when I called for myself.

I had to pay the final balance on our upcoming RCI cruise yesterday. Although the balance due showed the surcharge, RCI removed it before they charged my credit card.

Thanks Dave.I booked my cruise last august and the surcharge is still on my statement.I guess they will remove mine as well.

I just checked my credit card on line and there it was ($80), thank you RCL

An update...

Apparently RCI didn't remove the surcharge from my bill, my agent did. She submitted my credit card payment for an amount minus the surcharge on her own. They took it as full payment. I love my agent!
