One would assume the other lines would follow suit since it would be pretty bad press not to. When Carnival annouced their surcharge, it was a matter of a week before the remainder of the lines did the same. Hopefully they will all do as RCI did and even things out.
But, you can never second guess corporate accounting...

I think you're right—plus all the customer complaints. I don't have an issue for the fuel surcharge after they announced that they were going to impose it, the issue was imposing it on exsisting bookings.
That really didn't even bother me. Since cruises are booked anywhere from a couple of months out to a year-and-a-half, or more, and since people pay at different times, some as soon as they book, others at the deadline, I think it made more sense to pick a date and just say any sailing after that date is responsible for the surcharge.
My only issure was charging people who had already paid in full before the announcement; that didn't seem right. Legal, but not right.
This is great news to hear! I don't have a problem with them imposing the fee on bookings made after nov 16th but for all of us that had booked months prior to nov we thanks you rccl. I will be very happy to have my 240.00 back
So here's my situation...I booked and paid for a cruise well before the Nov 16th deadline for a June sailing. I then upgraded after the deadline and had to pay the difference. Will I get the $70 back too?
Marc
Marcus, when you find out your response please post. I am on the same situation except I did not upgrade. I added an extra passenger and had to change rooms because the one my kids had did not have a pulldown.

When this started, any cruises that were paid in full before Nov. 16th, did NOT have to pay the surcharge. If you upgraded or added another passenger without cancelling your original booking and rebooking, You'll not be paying any fuel surcharge. Any doubts…just call your TA or RCCL.
