Wee jack i can see your anger at the prices onboard rccl.
I can see why people sneak there own alchol onboard as the drinks prices are very high.
Im not saying this is the right thing to do.
As to photo's shuttle, excursions there all extras, If you had done your research on this site you would have learnt alot from experienced cruisers.
As to the duty free limits if your british you should know that if your outside of the EU your limit is 200 cigarettes per person and 1 litre bottle of spirits.
In my opinion cruising is getting more expensive every year as only the rich will be able afford to cruise in the future.
All down to the rising costs of fuel and making larger ships.
Were fortunate to be goin on the oasis in sept 2011 for 1 week,It has cost me more for 1 week on the oasis than 2 weeks on the freedom.

Oh yes!! All cruise lines do this! We had Disney and Princess they all do the money making stuff. The trick is to focus on the positive. My husband and I don't drink and we may do one excursion. A few preset dollars in the casino and one photo. We budget going in and stay with it. Still there is nothing like a cruise!! Don't let all that ruin your fun!!
Unless you are very wealthy you gotta have that plan going in! You will see your next time out will be better! Be well!

yes i should have done more homework ,,i did ask question,s & yes all these thing.s are optional but on holiday i do like to have a drink all i am refering to is thing,s i read in the brouchure & was told in the forum example:: cover charge was told $4.95 when in fact it was double that also the chop,s grill was quoted as $9.95 when that was also double i was also charge $40 on my sea pass which i never spent & was refunded after 6day,s i have said if you don,t drink or pamper yourself yes it would be great but were,s the fun in that in port,s we were charge $24 each way for less than a mile journey they were not forthcomeing with any information on other modes of transport if you didn,t use there,s people who had be on this ship a few times were also moaning as these transferes were free & the drink were very expensive since there last cruise & {wait for it no chocolates were left on bed,s lol }i will go again and learn from this one 1 other thing il have a bit of a moan about is the gratuites which we payed up front for so we could do my time dinning only to be told we were on a list & the vouchers were made out to certain staff so you couldn,t give them to anyone of your choice which i would have liked to have done & yes my next cruise i will be older & wiser thx for all your comment,s good & bad and i will take it onboard {no pun intended} thx

I am so glad to hear you'll give it another go There are lines that are all inclusive, they are much more expensive, but you could research on the difference and see if it would match or come close to doing a "main stream" line. Then there are some lines, which are not all inclusive, but do include a bit more, like wine with dinner. They too are more expensive. I would someday like to try them, unfortunately, my bank account right now won't let me But, please, please, please come either here or do a Google search and find out about your ports. There are a lot of members that have been all over the world on this board. Many of them do their own thing in port because they know all the ins and outs. Also, a good travel agent can do lots of research for you. Best wishes!

Penny,

You always have such gracious and courteous answers and are really a breath of fresh air in our world today...I would have simply told him not to be angry at the cruise line for his lack of foresight and planning.

Take care all!!!

weejack, how would Wheels know what you looked into before you went on your cruise if you didn't mention it in your opening message? I also thought you were a he because of your user name. I thought the compliment wheels gave Penny was well deserved; however, I don't think Wheels deserved the comment that we have people like Penny and not Wheels.

I've been on almost every Royal Caribbean ship more that once and never felt that I was ripped off. I've never been on any of the Europe itineraries--perhaps that's why.

I figured "weejack" meant little Jack, as in Little Jack Horner sat in a corner.
