What's the general opinion on these? On the RCCL we're going on (Adventure of the Seas in the Southern Caribbean), there are three different beverage packages (water, soda and juice). Why do they have to be different? I like all three, I might feel like a soda one day and a jiuce the next day. Are the drinks that much more expensive outside of these packages? Given we will be in a port almost every day (except one) I wonder if we'll end up buying more off the ship than on.

With the wine packages, the least number of bottles is 5. For a 7-day cruise, that might be a lot of wine to consume at the dinners. I know, it depends on how much of a wine drinker I am. If there is such a thing as "average" that's us. There are always exceptions, but 1 1/2 glasses per dinner is typical. I believe the average bottle holds more than that. They say unopened bottles can be taken home. Any opinions on whether this is a good value or are we better to stick with buying as we go, which is probably more expensive.

Hi snilan, we did Adventure out of San Juan this April and had a great cruise with fantastic weather. I personally would not purchase a water package (really didn't know there was one) as water is available pool side and we were never charge for it there. Also, my wife has an insulated water container that she always filled up when we were headed to the pool or off ship as the water on board is as good as bottled to me. We don't utilize the soda one as we would drink enough to make it worthwhile. We prefer to purchase our wine as we want and if a bottle is not finished it will be brought back to you the next evening. We generally purchase one or two bottles and/or we have just purchased a glass or two perhaps on two evenings. Sooooo many choices.

I know one thing for sure, you will enjoy this ship.

Snilan, I'll second PeterI's opinions. I don't think the drink packages are worth it. We buy what we want when we want and drink mainly coffee, tea, or water. For dinner a bottle of wine will last me at least 2 if not 3 nights. Some nights I don't feel like drinking wine so I'll have water or maybe a mixed drink. You can get juice at breakfast, water, coffee, tea and some type of punch or lemonade for free. The ship's water is as good if not better than bottled water. We normally will buy a bottle and refill it from the ship's water. It's cooled at the buffet area and they'll bring ice to your cabin.
