My wife and I ate at Portofino's on the Adventure of the Seas this past Friday night. It wasn't in our plans as we enjoy the variety and service in the main dining room, but one of the other couples at our table raved about their dinner and we decided to go for it.
It was the right decision. As we were on a cruise out of San Juan with a boisterous crowd, many of whom disregarded dress guidelines, the experience of a quieter dinner in a refined atmosphere was one of the highlights of our week.
The selections offered from the breads to the desserts were wonderful. As it was steak and lobster night in the main dining room my wife asked if she could have a piece of lobster with her steak and the request was granted without hesitation.
While my wife chose the tiramasu for dessert which was head and shoulders better than the same offering she had the night before in the dining room, I chose the sampler dish which features a smaller version of each of the desserts offered. It was incredible.
In hindsight the $20 cover is well worth it. I would heartily recommend Portofinos.
P.S. - you don't have to wear a jacket and tie - the recommendation is smart casual which can be a sport shirt and slacks.
