YIPEEE!! I am so excited. My husband just surprised me and the kids with a 4 day RC cruise to the Bahamas (Nassau and Cococay)We went on one 2 years ago- carnival- Fantasy. We really enjoyed the whole experience but had decided Nassau was one of those- been there done that type of things. I am so excited because I loved the cruise experience and i can't believe we are going again.

So we are going on a 4 day on the Soveriegn of the Seas. I know it is an older ship ..any suggestions or experiences on this ship we just have to know. We are most looking forward to Cococay. Hubby and the kids (17 and 14) want to go snorkeling. Daughter(6) and I will most likely hang out at the floating playground (worth it? $$$$ anyone?)

Love to hear your suggestions and so happy to hang out here again (I was here all the time around our last trip)

I am SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!

Shelby, what a wonderful surprise, and what a wonderful husband!

I assume the 5 of you will be in two rooms? Or did hubby spring for a big suite, too?

I escorted a group on Sovereign in late June, and everyone had a great time. It's an older ship without things like surf pools, but the ship really is in great shape. The only thing you'll notice is that the cabins are small, much smaller than Carnival's cabins were, and a lot smaller than Royal Caribbean's ships that were built after Sovereign, Majesty and Monarch. But other than cabin size (and how much will you be in your cabin, anyway?) the ship has beautiful public rooms, lots to do onboard, etc.

Coco Cay is a great beach day, with several beach areas on the island to explore, bars, and a fantastic barbeque lunch. Water sports are available, and relaxing is a must.

In Nassau, you could find interesting things to do. Take a look at the shore excursions that are offered; maybe something will tickle your fancy.

When are you going?

Welcome back to Cruise Chat!

Sandy

We are going for Spring Break- April 9.
We are staying in 2 rooms. At Carnival we shared one room-quite the experience. At that time hubby and I- our 15 and 12 year old and 4 year old. But we do not vacation much and that was actually our first big vacation in our 17 year marriage and it was a weekend cruise!

So this one we are still going with the cheaper interior bottom level rooms-2 this time! I prefer to shower and sleep in there and I'm gone! It helped with the teens- we would put the 4 year old done and let the boys run around till 11 or so and then they would come back and hang out in the room and watch their sleeping sister while we went to the nighttime shows. We were going to get a balcony room but it was $1000 more and with 5 on a trip, we decided we'd do without.
The thing I think i want to be most careful about it orienting ourselves to the ship faster. We got on at 3 last time- got food, went to the lifevest drill, left port, ate dinner, and then realized we had missed 5-8 thigs that had already been going on! I didn't realize when it starts it startsHuh? I didn't realize you could arrive before 1:30. Thats what time they told us so that is when we arrived and found out later people had been there since 11 and the tour was at NOON! Then we spent 2 1/2 days just finding stuff on the ship- I was 1/2 hour late for dinner b/c I couldn't figure out how to get to the dining room!

you will love sos we sailed on her nov.05 and had a great time.yes it is an older ship but has alot of things to do. we stayed on deck 2 inside and yes the cabins are small but it will be fine if you booked 2 cabins.we got to the port at 11 and was eating lunch by 1145am we think of it as an extra cruise day if you get there early.
