International calling from Cruise Ship and Bahamas

Going on cruise first of September on Sovereign of the Seas. Any one used international calling cards. What was your experience as far as rates, etc. Where phone phones available on the ship? Have Verizon Wireless cell phone, anyone use? Understand $2.49/minute. What about using calling card with the cell, still the charge?

Any input appreciated.

If you use the phone onboard, the calling card will do you no good. I believe outside calls are $6.95 per minute from your cabin.

Using your cell the charge you listed is what you'll pay with or without a calling card also. If you need to keep in touch during your cruise, my advise you to by a block of minutes for email and either use the internet cafe onboard or bring a laptop. The cost will still be high and service slow but not nearly as high as calling regularly from the ship.

Telephone is avaiable at all RCCL ships.
You can also use your cellphone/mobile phone onboard. RCCL has their own satelitte-cellphone-system thing that lets you use your cellphone onboard, no mather where the ship is located.

Best thing to do is leave the cell and laptop home and enjoy the break from phones and emails. It's vacation, enjoy it.
