Port side?

We are on the Navigator Feb. 14. Balcony room 9560. I have read in the reviews to try and get a port side room. How do I find out if our room is "port side"? All I know is that it is at the front of the ship.

You are in a good location on the Port side.

portside is "on the left side" of the ship, your cabin is on that side.

Thanks! Now I'm REALLY excited. We leave this Friday. Flying to Ft.Lauderdale, then board ship Sat. Hopefully we can board early! Hope the weather is good.

I never spend enough time in my room to make a difference....Way to many things going on around the ship...or off the ship...Just go and enjoy the total cruise...Happy Sailing...

One reason may be the smoking rules. On some ships the Starboard side is smoking and the port non smoking. So if you are on your balcony Starboard side, smoke, ashes and cigarette butts can find there way to you. I found it horrible and try to book port side.

Also Port side going south will bring the sunrise to your balcony, if you like that then port for you. Starboard gets the sunset.

The term POSH was coined in Great Britan to get sun to your cabin both over and back across the Atlantic. Stood for Port Over Starboard Home and you could actually buy a POSH ticket.

Are you sure about that? My understanding is the port/starboard smoking policy is only for public areas. Smoking is allowed on all balconies except those designated as "Spa" cabins on the Splendor.
