Hump cabins are those on the small humps or outward curvatures of the ship. Look at a photo of the Explorer and you'll see.
Cabin placement on newer ships is really not a factor anymore. A cabin in the aft part of the ship is fine. The cabins overlooking the promenade are quiet and the curtains are heavy enough that no light come in.
