Royal Caribbean orders giant cruise ship

Hello everybody,

Royal Caribbean Cruises today ordered a huge new cruise ship with Aker Yards. At 220,000 gt and with a capacity for 5,400 passengers, this will be by far the largest cruise ship the world has ever seen.

I read this elsewhere today, and it makes me wonder ... how big will ships get? This one looks like a monster. I wonder if they'll still make 70 ton ships going forward?

Still, the pax count isn't too bad considering the size of the ship (double what the largest ones are today). I wonder what amenities she'll have?

Hello. When we were on the Enchantment this past December, I was talking with the onboard Crown & Anchor person. We were talking about the Freedom. He said "that's nothing, wait till 2010, we'll have a ship as big as a small island." Well, now I know what he meant. I am already excited, I like the big ships. Bye. Lil' Lori
