Sexy, the standard rooms on the Majesty are small at 122' sq. The Junior Suites give you a lot more cabin space, in addition to the balcony.
That being said, being that the Majesty sails 3 and 4 night cruises, people tend to not spend a lot of time in their room. Those with balconies usually spend more time in there, even having breakfast out of the verandah if they choose.
Is it worth it? Everyone has a different opinion. What I do know is that folks say once you've traveled in a room with balcony, you never want a room without one again.
Our first cruise was onboard the Majesty and it was an outside view but no balcony. Our 2nd, 3rd and 4th cruises we chose a inside and it was ok. Our last cruise we had a balcony and I can not see going back to an inside.
You will enjoy it but the cruise will be too short. Call your TA back and book a back to back so you will have 7 days on that balcony
Genie, I haven't heard any reports of bed bugs on the Majesty. There was a discussion here of bug on another RCI ship.
I sailed the Majesty last month, Jan 13-16, as part of a group, and no one reported any problems with bugs. This was my 3rd or 4th cruise on Majesty of the Seas, and we never had a problem.
I know this thread is about the Majesty, but I read the response about bed bugs on another RCI ship.
Sandy, What ship was it? I am going on the Explorer of the Sea wondered if this ship had any bed bug issues.
I think it was the Grandeur of the Seas. I have since read messages posted here from people who sailed Grandeur more recently, who didn't have any problems with bed bugs.
It's unfortunate that bed bugs seems to be making a reappearance, more often in hotels and apartment buildings than on ships. I read that New York has a terrible problem with bed bugs now, as well as other cities, large and small. Exterminators are busier than they have been in decades.
On all of my cruises with RCCL I have never had or heard of any bug problems.
I really don't know where some of these folks write a statement then leave quickly.
I would like to know the circumstances but from reading the boards I have not heard about any problems
Mich, if you "search" this forum section using the "Find" tab at the top of the messages, and search on "bugs" or similar, you can find a few past discussions regarding bed bugs. It's not a problem unique to any one cruise line, but there were discussions in this particular forum about it. I think the earliest was under, "Does RCI Care About Its Most Loyal Customer?" or something like that.
