Ok...I know this is somewhat of a newbie question, but what is everyone's experience as far as disembarking once back in your home port on the Freedom of the Seas or a similar class ship like Adventure of the Seas etc.? How long should we expect, or how quick could someone actually be off the ship if they chose to carry their own bags?

We are scheduling a private car service to pick us up and since they will be on an hourly rate...I just want to give them the most accurate time that I can for them to be at the pier in Miami. No flight concerns, just timing question.

When I was on the Voyager of the Seas last year, I took the express departure and we were off the ship by 8:00....our bus ride to the airport dictated the early departure, just remember you have to take off all of your luggage by yourself....the crew can't help you...but we've never had a problem....and I hope they haven't changed the policy of Express worked for us...Happy Sailing...

When I was on the FOS disembarking went very smoothly and in a timely manner.

When i was on the Navigator of the Seas last year it took a couple of hours for us to get off and we carried our own luggage off.

I was on the FOS in June & it took quite some time for disembarking. It took so long that we didn't use our transfer & ended up taking a taxi to the airport. I had heard the delay had to do with a list of names that they need to check out & it delayed things.

Usually the hold up is Immigration. Sometimes it can be on board bills not being settled. There are so many things that can delay disembarkation. Sometimes it's smooth as glass and you're off in no time, but it's hard to predict when that is going to be true. If there are a lot of ships debarking the same day, I'd be on the safe side and tell the limo service 10:30am. If there aren't too many ships in port and you're doing self-debark, you will probably be off by 9:00am at the latest. I do stress probably.
