We are looking into cruising on the Rhapsody Aug. 13. Some people have said that it is the rainy season in Key WEst, Grand Caymen, Cozumel, where we will be sailing to. Can anyone tell me from experience how bad it is with the rain this time of year?

My experience is that it is no more likely to be raining the week of your cruise than on any other week during the summer. Pop-up showers are a fact of life in the Caribbean in the summer. But they rarely last long. Obviously if a tropical wave or hurricane develops, things will change. But then again, if a hurricane is in the western Caribbean your ship will not be there. One thing I can tell you is that Cozumel in August is very hot and humid.

We typically go to a beach while in Cozumel. The Mayan ruins tour to San Gervasio is not a good thing to do in the heat. But frankly, I don't think much of the San Gervasio tour to begin with. I wouldn't rule out any tour you want to do just because it is hot and humid. Just stay hydrated. The ships all have a station set up at the ship's exit selling bottled water. There are also places selling it on the shore. It doesn't hurt to grab a bottle per person if you are going out away from the town.

We are sailing the same date; 2 adults and 16 year old male; meeting some folks for first time on deck (chatted on cruise critic). What is your party made up of? We will meet near the baqr on deck by the pool.
