We're cruising on Mariner of the Seas in November. Several of our party are flying in to the Orlando/Sanford airport and will need transport to/from Port Canaveral. I googled transportation from this airport, but every site shows "call for rates" (as opposed to the Orlando International airport - round-trip shuttle fees were easy to find). Makes me think it's going to be all over the board, price-wise. Anybody have suggestions for shuttle to/from this smaller airport? Thanks!
Have you checked with Art's Shuttle?
They will want you to email your dates etc so they can give you a quote but it will be around $30 each one way I would think.
Have you looked at Sanford Airport's website- ? click on Ground Transportation.
We flew in there in January, not realizing it was so far from Orlando. Got there fairly early on a Sunday evening and it was deserted...even the vendors were closed. There were no shuttles to be found (my fault for not checking before we went) so we ended up having to take a taxi...45 minutes and $100! We took a Mears shuttle on the way home (our hotel made our reservation for us) and it was still close to $100 for 2 of us.
Hello billskiwi, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Did you look into renting a car? I'm sailing on the Mariner in October and I'm renting a mid-sized car for two days prior to my cruise--my total cost is $89 plus gas.
Sonny V:
If you're renting a car, does the cost you mentioned include the fees at the port while you're cruising? I was under the impression that the "hidden" costs of rental cars could really add up.
Cruise Fairy:
I did my initial investigation on the internet: I googled a website that lists all the shuttle/limo/transport to and from Sanford. Most of these companies had link to their sites, but the ones I looked at all said "call for quote".
I may end up taking the extra time to call, email, etc. a number of them. I was just fishing to see if anyone else had already done this legwork, or had already used some of the transport companies.
Kris:
Mapquest shows about 45 miles each way. I'm probably not going to suggest Mears to my relatives, given that limos usually cost about the same as them in other cities! Sorry to hear about showing up in the "ghost airport" - I can relate (plenty of horror stories from my business travels)!
