Hello
I am looking for ANY info on RCL Monarch of the sea - we have sail on many cruises however this will be the first 3 day (we are going with another couple who want to "try out cruising" - I couldnt find alot on the ship - dress - evening events (do they have shows etc on such a short trip?)
Thanks again ---- any up dates would be great (we are going 3/20/09)

I LOVE this ship and it's sister the Majesty, you get all the joy of a cruise ship, in a smaller, manageable(sp) size...in a 3 day cruise you have to squeeze it all in. So you will have a formal night, they will have a show of some kind each night, all the regular pool activities. Your friends are sure to leave wanting more....

I had to smile when I saw the 1979 Carnival (the "Original" Kathhy Lee ship) Carnival has certainly changed alot in the past few years!!! Thanks so much for the info - it sounds like exactly what we wanted - something a little smiler and less formal - speaking of - the night of "formal" was every one really dresed or can you get away with dress pants collar shirts for guys and/or skirts for women (?) Since the trip is so short we werent really planning on bringing alot - what do you think... also have you ever left out of the Port canaveral port?
Thanks again - "C"
My husband and I went on this cruise last year when it was on the Sovereign. Dress pants/collared shirt should be fine. My husband did wear a tie also.

I did this cruise last August on the Sovereign. Same class of ship as the Monarch. It was a pleasant little weekend cruise. Nothing fancy but it was a fun time.
This sounds like everything we could want in a quick/3 night trip --- looking back - We went on Monarch ... in 2000 - I am anticipating a nice change in decor' since then - does the ship look new and updated (I think I read it has been refurbished?) We were mostly concerned with having to be "dressed up" and also interested in the evening entertainment - what can we expect in such a short trip? Also what age group do you think will be on the ship (FYI: we are all in the 45-55 range...) But like the shows - gambling and staying out to the wee hours (we are from just outside the NYC area)... Thanks for all the info - you have all been great...

Has any one been on the Monarch lately though. I see on the RCCL website that it doesn't say it has a Johnny Rockets or a pizza place. Just trying to see if it is the same as the Sovereign. We are thinking of going on it in April.
I have never did Monarch but I have done the Explorer and I heard it was pretty much similiar and the Explorer was gorgeous and a lot to do. Have Fun. I have been on several on RC CRUISES, to be exact probably amount 7 of them and all their ships were nice. No complaints
The Monarch was the very first of our 21 cruises...She was the biggest ship on the seas that year.....We loved it....I'm sure that have been some changes since then....Just have a 3 day blast and I'm sure your friends will opt to go on a 7 day or longer next time...Happy cruising..
