I still have a thick robe that I purchased in 2000, not from Royal Caribbean but from Carnival. It's held up very well after many, many washings, although I did have to reattach the belt loops from time to time.
Keep in mind that the robes take up a lot of space in luggage. I'd suggest buying one that's wrapped (less bulk) and using the one provided in the cabin (if any) during the cruise.
you asked the question in the RCI forum, but I know you are taking a Princess cruise, so I can answer that; they have two types of robes: a lightweight thin sort of waffle weave that barely covers and a very plush terrycloth that is quite roomy. If you get one kind and want the other, just ask your cabin steward. You should specify which kind you want when you first see him/her, as they usually bring it the first full day.
I know you ask on RCCI site but I got my wife one on Carnival a couple of years ago and she loves it and it has held up very good.I don't think what ship you get it on,your wife will like it and they all have good robes

Thank you! Actually I was thinking that they would be kind of standard between cruiselines. However, I would like to "sample" as many cruiselines as I can in the next 50 years of my life (if I am fortunately to live that long!)
I ordered one of the thicker ones through RCCL's gifts and gear site-hope she likes it-she's big into robes-
I'm hoping it's in the cabin when we board so she'll be surprised.
