What is the dress code in Portofino's? Is "smart casual" OK?
On our last Princess cruise, the $20 charge was the best money we spent all week. Is the same true on the Explorer?

I'm glad you brought this subject up! I was wondering about Portifino's restaurant. It costs $20/person right? When you get inside, can you order as much as you want for the $20 or how does that work? We also have a 4 year old child. Do they have a children's price?

Thank you,

wesnlin - I think you could probably order as much as you like. It's like the menu at an upscale restaurant. You'll have choices of appetizers, soups, salads, entree, side dishes. I come away stuffed each time I eat there. Best $20 I've ever spent. About your child -- I could be wrong but I think there's an age limit. I don't know that this is the type of restaurant that a 4 year old would enjoy.

If this is "$20" to enter the Portofino Restaurant, this sounds like a price to come inside the restaurant, to me. I knew that RCCL has a standard tips-price for each day per person, so maybe this is a lot of it. But I would have looked for some more information about this.

The $20 fee includes gratuities for the staff. The age limit is 13.

it is a great experience, though i actually think chops grille is better. 20- gets you appetizer, entree, dessert, salad, etc.
don't think you can order 6 filet mignons at a sitting. the best 20- you can spend on board.

This is the best money you'll ever spend on the ship for GREAT food & an intimate dining experience. Its kinda hoity toity meaning upscale with lots of silverware so know your manners for fine dining, but absolutely wonderful food & excellent service. Its a nice quiet time for a memory that you'll never forget. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!! Trust me on this one.
