Balcony Question please

We have rooms booked on the aft balcony deck 6 on Splendour of the Seas. We've cruised with a balcony on Conquest (forward starboard side) a couple of years ago and loved it. We're wanting to try a different part of a cruise ship, so we giving an aft balcony a try. Deck 7 and 8 seem like great view. Is deck six ok too? Thanks for your responses...

Good question. I don't have an answer for you, but I have some thoughts after Googling for photos of the Splendour of the Seas. There are a couple of fairly good photos of the aft end within the first four or five pages on Google Images. Unfortunately, the photos were taken by people standing on shore alongside of the ship tied up at some port of call.

I looked in a brochure; the decks 5 and 4 aft don't seem to be any sort of public space. So I'm not sure what you would be looking down onto from any of those aft balcony staterooms, but a considerable portion of the ship does continue on.

I sailed on the Grandeur many years ago, but have no recollection of what her aft end was like. That was long before I ever had my trusty digital camera! You have me curious, though. I will continue to search around.

Meanwhile, I am wondering what made you say "Deck 7 and 8 seem like a great view." What are/were you looking at to say that?

On the Splendour there are three decks of aft cabins, decks 6, 7 & 8. Just below deck 6, on deck 5 is the main dining room. There seems to be a room on deck 5 that extends out, blocking the sea view from the center most aft cabins on deck 6. My guess, is when we get on the boat it won't make much difference, but looking up, as most pictures show, it does seem to make a difference in the view. And that sparked my curiosity and my question.
