I heard that the Explorer of the Seas was going in for maintenance - refurbishing sometime in the fall - does anyone know if this has happened? Does anyone know what this involves - new carpets? New mattresses? New couches?
Yes, they could replace all that. It's a spruce up for the ship. Consider it like you going in for a yearly physical. Your doctor checks everything over.
How about Mariner of the sea? Has anyone been on it recently? Did they do it yet? I was just wondering, because we're going on it in December! Thanks

We just got off the Mariner October 1st- it has not recently been re-done, except for general up-keep such as varnish, etc. It sorely needs new matresses-other than that, she's beautiful and well cared-for
Jim,thank you for a speedy reply. I can't wait to cruise on her! How was your cruise? Did you go on the Eastern or western cruise?

Western this time. We did Eastern last year on the same ship. So far, she is our favorite, and we may repeat the trips again. For myself, I could care less if she stops anywhere-I LOVE just cruising around the ocean. Grand Cayman was our favorite stop this time-St. Maartin for the Eastern. I can almost guarentee that you'll love the ship.
Just came off Explorer on October 6 and while we were in port at Bermuda they replaced all the bedding. I didn't hear any thing about more extensive refurbs.
we just came back Oct.15 from the Explorer. It looks like every room now has new mattresses...the new bedding(embroidered sheets)we had, and new dust ruffle, but the curtains and the bed cover were still the old colors. It looks like solid, tone on tone green is the new color. We had the old mattresses only the first night..the new ones are kinda HARD for my body.
