No sodas and water

I have seen some post referring to Carnival not allowing to bring any pops or water aboard their ships but that this is not true for RCI. My concern is, how long until RCI follows suit? My first cruise was in March 2005 on the Grandeur (a great trip)and was allowed to purchase Scotch at the ship store and pay a $10 dollar fee and be able to have it in my cabin. I did not have the same priviledge on my second cruise in Sept. of the same year b/c Carnival had implemented that rule and RCI just followed the lead. Let's face it, it means more money to them b/c you will have to buy their product. What is your opinion?
