Navigator Feb. 14, 2009 1st time cruiser!

Thanks to all about the info! Glad to know about Jamaica. We don't plan any ship tours, just check things out on our own. Now we know not to wander off! Any more information on anything is appreciated!How is the shopping in Ocho Rios? Looking for deals! We are first time cruisers.

Walking into the shopping area with me my husband was approached by a native man, we assumed a pan-handler, but actually was a offering drugs and "I get you a woman, any woman you want"--What was I? I can hear you!!

I guess I am not a big shopper but didn't see much in Jamaica other than t-shirts, island style jewelry, lots of tie dye and batik drape-y sarong type outfits, flip flops and the assortment of shot glasses, sun glasses and related souveniers. Cozumel seemed better for this--There is a thread on this forum about shopping with care in Cozumel and I don't advocate making large purchases in these countries.

By the way, you often see guys in the Miami airport with Sombreros and they don't fit in the overhead compartment, or your luggage for that matter, so they end up wearing them onto the plane. I guess it didn't look as big in Mexico after a few beers . . . )

Thanks Spoheat! I'm sure my carry-on will be "FULL" on the return trip. I'll probably have to carry A LOT!
