Hi all
Booked my cruise direct after shopping around and got same price as travel agent. I worked with an online agent who was very nice and knowlegable. She has contacted me and said I could call RCCL and transfer the booking to her and she will give me $150.00 on board credit. I am a little leary but thought you all could shed some light on this. Why would she want to handle the reservation? Thanks. |

Who is getting the commission now? The person from RCCL.... Do they give on board credit?
Thanks |
The agents you get through RCCL work for RCCL and therefore they do not get commission. Outside travel agents are able to book cruises for the same price as the RCCL agents but they still get a commission from RCCL for the booking.
So, no, the RCCL agent would not be able to give you anything for booking direct. Also note that with RCCL, every time you call them you get "the next available agent" and may never work with the same person twice. Other lines (like Carnival) allow the agents to "own" an account and they will call you with specials and you can contact them directly. RCCL is different that way. |
Thanks for your input, looks like i will give the travel agent the booking and get the $150.00 on board credit!!
Thanks |
It must be a really expensive cruise if the $150 OBC is comming out of the agent's commission.
