I see from reading reviews that there are alot of extra charges. Does that mean if you want to do the rock climbinb wall or say minature golf it cost extra?
No, there is no charge for the rock wall or miniature golfing. The charges come from spa treatmens, salon service, specialty dining ect.
We were able to go a 7 day cruise and only spend $50 on board, of course that does not include shore excursions. We do not drink and that is where most of the charges occur. I hope I have been of some help. Enjoy your cruise.
Hi,
There is a charge for soda also. Coffee,Juice, tea, lemonade and punch is free at the buffet and dinning room. Ice cream machines are free also. There is no tipping until the end of the cruise. If you watch it, you could go through the whole week without spending any extra money. GOOD LUCK
Just a quick addition to the others - yes rock climbing, mini-golf, are all free. Ice cream is a charge if you want an ice cream bar. If you want the self-serve then it is also free. (Other lines charge you for all ice cream not consumed in the dining room.) The big one for running up your cruise bill always seems to be drinks - whether it's sodas or alcoholic. And if you're into Bingo or wine tasting they are also an additional fee.
I just came off the Monarch of The Seas Friday. I did not see a soft-serve icecream. They do have the Ben & Jerry's for $2.50 for a small cup. Carnival Cruise lines does have soft serve icecream/yogurt in the buffet area at no charge, and when I was on the NCL Sun in January they had free hard icecream at their "Sprinkles" on the Sun/pool deck.
