We booked a cruise with Royal Caribbean via a travel agent. If the prices that they charged us, and we have paid in full, change on the Royal Caribbean website, does this entitle us to money back? I read another post but it was not clear.
Also, is it easy to organise your own excursions into the various ports? Such as using public transport etc.? And how much per person is each trip approx.?
Hi TRFCAlex, welcome to Cruise-Chat. Call your TA and they should be able to get you either an on board credit, or some money back, or a bump up in cabin catagory. Not knowing what your itinerary is, it's hard to say whether your ports are easy to do on your own and what the approximate prices might be. Please check out our Port Chat sections, a little further down the page. If you use your "Find" feature in the upper left hand corner, and type in your ports of call (one by one) and click on the search, it will bring up all the posts made about that particular port. There's some great information in the FAQ section as well. Hope you have a fantastic cruise. Best wishes, and once again, welcome aboard!
Check out our FAQ section and the Europe Port Chat section. There are many suggestions for going on your own. Hank, Jim, and a few others have written some great posts. Excursions are pricey, but they do offer security. If you're late getting back to the ship, they will wait if you're on a tour from the ship. If not, they won't. Also, even though they are outside vendors, the cruise line has screened them. This doesn't always mean that they're great, it just means that they're legitimate. Many, many people feel comfortable enough doing a foreign port on their own. I just don't feel good, unless I know the language well enough to make sure I'm not getting taken. I just don't trust my French, Spanish or Italian enough. Heck, my English isn't even great. Make sure to check out the posts and do research before you get there if you're going to venture out on your own. Best wishes!
