drinking water

Hi again, havent been here for a while because of the overtime for cruise spending money. Anyway, my husband is worried about the taste and health of the water on the ships. How do they work that anyway? Do they filter salt water or have a tank? And how is the quality? He wants to pack bottled water, an idea that I think may be overboard. We are traveling for 3 nights to Bahamas on SOS.

cruise ships both have fresh water tanks and they produce their own fresh water from sea water.

The quality standards (which are checked regularly by U.S. and other authorities) are very high, and hence the water is of a very high quality.

I never bring drinking water, as I am perfectly fine with the ship's water. Even those who can't stand a slight chlorine taste can drink the ship's water if they bring a water filter which removes the taste.

Raoul is quite correct. The ships also sell bottled water in the bars and it will be available in your cabin, as well. They do charge for it however, so be aware when someone opens the bottle and starts drinking, that your cabin attendent will present a bill for it.

I wouldn't waste space in my suitcase for bottled water. As Raoul has stated the water quality is good and even if after boarding you decide you would prefer bottled water - it can always be purchased on board (in your stateroom). You can also just pick up some at your first port of call if it becomes an issue.
