I hear they charge an arm and a leg for alcohol...now is it true that you can purchase bottles of booze on the ship from the duty free store and take them back to your room to drink??? If not what is a solution that will not cost us lots?

Hello hucksgirl, welcome to Cruise-Chat. If you buy alcohol on board the ship, they will deliver it to you on the last night. You're not allowed to bring it to your room. You'll probably hear about people putting alcohol in there check in luggage before going to the port. They check for that, and it may be confiscated. The rules stricly forbit it. I don't think drinks on the ship are any more than some bars and night clubs. I'm sure you'll get answers about that on the forum.

The price of drinks on the ship are no more than most major cities which charge on average $4/$5 for a bottle of beer and $6/$7/$8 for most drinks. The souvenir glass can get expensive but you can order in a regular glass.
