If you think the shore operations of RCI can be difficult at times to deal with, wait until they reduce the staff by 400 positions. Read it here .

RCL needs to add good customer service people not reduce! i understand the why of it, but there is a piece of me that thinks OMG!

I don't know the size of the staff, but 400 positions seems like a big chunk to me. I believe they share duties for both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity, so this will hit both cruise lines.

What's Next?

I've suspected that they have cut crew positions already...It seemed on our last couple of cruises that the staff was less especially room stewards...I think they have to cover more rooms and maybe that's one reason for the reduced attention to detail....Let's hope the cuts are temporary....Happy Sailing

The Royal Caribbean cutbacks are for that brand only, and not Celebrity. They say that onboard services and customer-related services on shore, like embarkation personnel, are not affected. There are about 300 people across the whole corporation that are being let go, in departments like Accounting, support personnel, etc. The other 100 are open positions being eliminated, rather than filled.
