Just back for 16 nights on Monarch and what an eventfull cruise for all the wrong reasons.
Too many to go into right now.

One of them was that if you try to get chips on your sea pass they now charge 3% convenience charge, and when you go the the teller to collect your winnings they also charege 3%

I know Carnival charges 3% to charge on their Sail & Sign account to get money in the casino. I have never heard of a charge to cash in before.

I know they have the 3% charge to get chips or monet out but did not end up with any chips to cash back in so don't know about cashing back in. Sure is a lot cheaper than using the ATM though if your only taking small amounts out. They also have a max amount you can get now. I don't remember what it was because it was way more than I would want to lose on a cruise.

I have never been charged to cash-in winnings. I've not heard of any cruise line implementing that either. Who told you that there was a 3% charge to cash in your winnings?

I can't believe that would charge you to cash in winnings either. Maybe a fee to put your winnings onto your Sign and Sail account (or whatever they call it on RCI) but to charge you to cash in the chips they FORCE you to use instead of money would be plain out robbery. If the fee was to put the money back onto your account, don't have them do it in the casino. Take the cash and go to the purser's desk and put the money on your account there for free....

i did not get this information second hand, its first hand experience i went to cash in $150 and the teller said there was a 3% charge for cashing in chips

I have never heard of that. To charge you for getting your own money is not ethical. I do hope you let them know you were not happy about that.

That is unacceptable. What are they going to charge for next? It's getting to the point where the only thing included in a cruise vacation is the stateroom and some "average" food. We can get this at a 3 star resort! We need to speak up and let the cruiselines know what we think. They should be competing for our business by trying to outdo each other!
