This is our first cruise and we can't wait. Could any of you old timers give us some advice about what to do and what not to do when we hit the beach at Coco Cay, Charlotte Amalie and St. Maarten. There's six of us middle fiftty-ish adults and we need a real vacation very, very badly.

Coco Cay is their private island, perfect beach day. St. Thomas-if you like snorkeling, a catamaran sail/snorkel is great or grab the ferry to St. John and a cab to Trunk Bay. Trunk Bay is a beautiful beach, a snorkel trail is about 50 yds. off shore, all the amenities are there. If you'd rather shop, there's great shopping near where you dock. There are some nice beaches on St. Thomas, Magan's Bay, Coki Beach and Sapphire Beach, they're not as beautiful as Trunk Bay, but they're really nice beaches. St. Maarten is good for shopping as well, the snorkeling isn't that good there. The last time we were there, we did the America Cup Racing Yachts. It was a real hoot watching tourists manning sailing yachts. There are a lot of people who enjoy Orient Beach, be sure to get a drink ticket from one of the bars so you can use their restrooms. They charge for everything there. Best wishes and have a marvelous cruise!

Thanks for the information Penny. It helps to make some informed choices before we get on the ship. We thank you for your time replying.

Happy to help. Hopefully, you'll get more ideas as well. That way it will make it more difficult to decide on excursions.
