Just checkin' to see if JACKETS and/or ties are REQUIRED for formal nights on RHAPSODY of the Seas. My son & I are leaving this weekend (05/14/06) from Galveston to the Caribbean and he does not want to wear a coat.

Since this is more casual than, say an Alaska trip, I wondered what they actually check on formal nights. Would Dockers, a dress shirt & tie work?

Dockers, shirt, and tie, will be fine. You won't be booted out for not wearing the jacket.

If you have room in you luggage I would bring a jacket along, you'll probably be glad you did.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Any reason to bring one if it is not required? Merely for pictures?

Mike,

Although you won't be denied entry to the main dining room for not wearing a suit or sport coat, you will be in a distinct minority among the rest of the passengers. And of course, the photos are another thing.

Another option is to simply skip the formal nights and have dinner in an alternate location for those nights. The buffet offers a great evening service and will be casual.

WE sailed on this ship in February. I would bring the jacket. He can take it off when eating but at least he will have it. It does also make the formal night pictures nicer. Enjoy your cruise!
