Freedom: Wi-Fi charges per person or cabin? speed?

I saw in the Freedom's Cruise Review that wi-fi is available on the Freedom of the Sea. This is a nice, new improvement over past RC ships with only slow dial-up (per my family... this is my first cruise). Anyway, three of us will be traveling together.

Does anyone know what the charge is for wi-fi internet access? And, is the charge per person or per cabin? If anyone tried it, what kinds of speeds did it have? Is it available throughout the ship or just in the cabins and certain areas?

Wi-fi can be purchased at a base rate of $.50 per minute, or you can purchase a package ($25/60 min, $35/90 min, $50/150). When traveling with friends we often purchase the largest package, split the cost and all use the same log-on account and password. I did not bring my laptop on the Freedom, but I know that Dave (and others on this board) took advantage of the wi-fi service on the Freedom, so I am sure they will answer your connection question.

Everywhere that I tried wi-fi I got at least a fair signal and often it was good to very good. I use Apple computers and we have 4 bars for signal strength. I usually had 2 bars, sometimes 3 bars, and a few times I maxed out. I used my laptop in the cabin, in one of the forward lounges, and often around the pools.

Although my signal was good I was still at the mercy of the satellite like everyone else. What this means is that there often was a lag time of several seconds to a minute before anything happened and a webpage updated or e-mail was sent. Still I was quite happy with the service. It was quite cool to be sitting pool side, sipping on a rum runner, and reading this forum or typing and sending my daily cruise updates.

Well as for me when I go on a cruise the last 2 things that I will take is a cell phone or a computer. When I am on a cruise I am there to enjoy the cruise but then again thats me. I think if you are so bored on the cruise that you are actually on either then that is a bad thing. (c:
