We are leaving Jan 6, 2007, out of New Orleans for 7 days to Georgetown, Costa Maya & Cozemel. First cruise in a long time and I have a lot of questions. We do not have passports and were told that they would not be required for this cruise. Has anyone heard otherwise? We do have the required D.L. & birth certificates. Also, this is our first time on Grandeur and these ports-of-call. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Excursions, condition of New Orleans, city & port since hurricane, condition of Mexico since Wilma, etc. Also, stateroom is 7516. Is this location going to contribute to potential seasickness? Appreciate any help from everyone.

You don't NEED the passport till 2008. Sounds like a great itenerary. State rooms near the middle of the ship have the least motion. Most often on these large ships you won't notice any motion at all. You will probably sleep like a baby, who doesn't want to be gently rocked to sleep.

What???? I thought passports were required beginning in 2007 for cruises? We're cruising in March on the Grandeur and was told by our travel agent, yes, passport required.

The rules changed and your agent may have told you what was true at one point - but it then was rolled back another year. For a while, RCI said they were going to require passports starting in 2007 no matter what the government said. RCI then backed off when the government finally agreed to wait another year. I wouldn't be upset by it. You are going to need a passport at some point and the wait to get one is only going to get worse.
