We're booked on the Independence in a few weeks....
I was thinking of bringing a few cigars to smoke, but I can't seem to remember where (or if) these ships have a cigar lounge...
We've been on the Freedom and Liberty, but I didn't happen to bring any on those trips...
Anyone know of one on board?
thnx

I am 99% sure I saw one when we were on Freedom of the Seas last Feb. I walked into it and said..."yep this is a cigar lounge".

Hi MiamiSpartan,

Was just reading some reviews of the Independence of the Seas on Cruise Critic and I am sure I saw something about there being a very small lounge for smokers in one of the bars on the Indy and something else about there being an outside deck for smokers too. But the overall impression that I got was that the cabins are supposed to be all NON smoking and that there was very little space for smokers to smoke on the ship. Could RCCL be moving to a non smoking policy?????

Hi MS,

Yes, there is a cigar lounge on Freedom. It's called the Connosouir's Club (sp?) Also, I have always been able to smoke cigars on my balcony (even after the new smoking policy was adopted). In fact, some folks smoking cigarettes on the balcony next to our stateroom complained about my cigar smoking to the cabin steward last year and he advised them that pipe, cigar and cigarette smoking were all permitted on private balconies. Although, I will admit that if you look at the RCCL smoking policy it does appear that pipe and cigar smoking is limited to the cigar lounge (if there is one onboard) and one side of an upper, open deck. Just my experience.

Thnx King...
I think I remember seeing that place when I was on the other Freedom Class ships....
Looking forward to my week of R & R!

I seem to recall that on a game show themed video of their policies back in October 2009, it was stated that smoking was allowed on balconies with the doors closed, but I guess they mean cigarettes as opposed to cigars.
