When would the captains dinner be on a 7 day cruise on the Freedom I know we are at sea the second night and the 5th and 6th night I have heard the formals are usually sea nights. How is the captains dinner is it something you should miss, and most importantly how's the food.

I guess the Captain's dinner is the first night?
Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong?

It's usually the second night or the first night at sea, which is the formal night. The first night is sometimes a little chaotic when it comes to the dining room. I would never miss dining in the dining room on formal night. As far as the question on how the food is, you have a choice off the dinner menu. If you order something you don't care for, your waiter will promptly bring you another dish of your choice. If you love steak you can order it every night even if it's not on the menu. On lobster night you can have as many as you want. That goes for any meal. Quality of food varies from ship to ship. I never complain about food quality. However, I raved about the food quality on the Navigator. It was either the best of any ship, or I was just starving when I came to the dinner table.

Ohhhhh, you shouldn't have said that. I can put away the lobster. I'll skip everything, including desert to put a dent in the lobster population. Yummmmmmmm

Now to make sure we don't book Chops on Lobster night.
Thanx,
Erika

On the Voyager, the Captain's dinner was the second night....and of course there was Lobster and it was delicious....all 3 of them. One thing about formal night, it seems to becoming more Resort Casual with many people not dressing up at all....but that's their choice..dress up and feel special. Have a Great Cruise....

Yes Spritfilled, it is part of the fun of cruising. You don't have to be wearing formal wear to be dressed up. In my opinion, what people are wearing tells me something about their character.
