no more teen activities on Mariner?

I was on Royal Caribbeans website this morning and while looking for teen activities, I noticed a tiny disclaimer at the bottom of the page that said as of the 2008-2009 Carribean, Bermuda and Bahamas brochure, RC will not be offering a teen social network. Will there still be areas just for teens, just no organized activities? How upsetting for my 15 year old! Any help is much appreciated! Only 17 more days until our cruise! L

They will still have organized activities, but plans for an RCI teen internet social network - think Facebook or My Space - have been placed on hold.

Thanks for the information Dave! You just made my (and my son's) day! Maybe you could answer another question...we have second seating at dinner..and an 11 and 15 year old..in your opinion, will that work? I think it would mean less rush to get ready for dinner, but would we be just as rushed to catch all the shows and parades? Thank you again! L

There will be plenty of time to see everything without a lot of hustling around. Shows for the second seating will either start before dinner at 7pm or after dinner at 10:30/11 pm for the most part. So, worst case scenario still gives you another hour to get ready over the main seating time.

I just came back from FOS with 2 17 yo boys. I originally had late seating, but after first night switched to first seating. Most of the teen activities start at 9pm and the boys didn't want to miss them. I don't like eating that early on vacation, but it made a happy compromise between us and them. If your teenager doesn't mind starting his night around 10 - 10:30pm, it shouldn't be a problem to do 2nd seating.

Thank you Dave and Christinelee for your advice. When we board we will check out the kids and teen activities...we may very well change to early seating if it works best for our children. Thank you again for your advice! Less than two weeks now! L
