What should I pack for my husband to wear on the semi-formal night? He is going to wear a suit, not a tuxedo on the formal nights. He does not own a sports coat. The website says jacket and ties.
non-formal nights would be slacks, and regular shirts, but it's what you are comfortable with. My husband likes Dockers/Cargo shorts, with a nice shirt, and deck shoes. Another night, he may wear his jeans with a nice shirt. But we don't worry too much about that, this is vacation and don't stress over it.

Which cruise are you going on? Most don't even mention "semi-formal" anymore. It is either formal or casual in some form (resort casual, smart casual, etc.)
Okay, I see you are on a 9-night Grandeur. I know what the RCI website says about dress codes. The truth is that although they list a jacket and tie for "smart casual" the reality is 99% of the men still wear "resort casual" stuff - at least in my experience. I know that is what I wear if any part of the dress code has the word "casual" in it.
If you don't bring a jacket and it is required; you can always take the life jacket and bring that to see if it is acceptable at the door...After all, it only says jackets preferred for men on some cruise ships..I did run into that on Celebrity but they did not enforce their dress code.. LOL.

Wow Peter have you tried this??? Can't you see on "semi-formal" night half the passengers showing up in the dining rooms in their life jackets?? what a sight...
