Royal Caribbean decided not to honor their commitment & passed an extra $500 cost onto loyal platinum cruisers. Stating they are cancelling all commitments because they wish to re-deploy the Rhapsody. Wanting to refund all the lower prices.
After requesting a comparable cruise with Rhapsody on March 4, 2007 the answer is $500 more plus a down grade in cabin and a lower deck assignment. USAA Cruise Travel echoed the sentiment.
To fellow Passengers: Did they treat you the same way?
I also had booked and PAID for a GS on Rhapsody 12/2/07 and am VERY unhappy about the "offer".
I need to go in Dec and feel they should honor my suite on any other 7 day cruise, even out of a different port, as I am flexible on that. It is NOT acceptable to change to the Voyager, at a laer date, at over $1000.00 upcharge. Prevailing rates my foot!!
Hello Irene, this is Gary and Linda. We had back to back cruises set up in the Grand Suite. After learning that they had been cancelled, we found a cruise 12-10-06 with a senior discount and decided to book it in a JS and also booked a 1-13-08 cruise in a JS on the Voyager. We were told that compensation for the cancellations would be $200 each onboard credit and after finally receiving our invoices for the new cruises, that is reflected on them. I agree they should have done more to make us happy and why did we have to learn from another website about the deployment. We actually called them when we no longer could see the cruises on their website and were told there may be a change in itinerary or cancellation. We think they determined they were giving too good a deal (we had also applied $150 certs to each cruise)so the solution was to re-deploy Rhapsody and cancel them.
Hi - I must have missed something somewhere. What do you mean they're redeploying the Rhapsody?? We were considering a Dec 2, 2007 cruise on the Rhapsody but haven't decided for sure yet because we were torn between that and Carnival Conquest...
If you will take a look at there web site you can see that Aug 27th is the last cruise out of Galveston. On Dec 10th 2007 it will be in the far east. Tha Voyager of the Seas will call Galveston home starting in Dec. 2007. They told me that nothing will be in Galveston between those dates. I will miss that old ship.
We were on the Rhapsody last week. What a wonderful cruise. Yes, the captain told us it was headed for Asia soon. It might be one of the older and smaller ships, but it appears to be in pretty good condition. It's really beautiful and the service was excellent. I would definately cruise on her again.
I knew the Voyager was coming to Galveston (obviously to complete size against size) but I had no idea that they were going to treat existing reservations on RotS that way. Sounds really similar to what CCL did when they swapped in the Conquest for the Ecstasy. Our chea cruise suddenly jumped $1000. Why? Because the new ship is bigger. What a joke. I could see charging and new reservations more money, but the existing reservations that have already paid should not have to pay more.
That would be like the airlines charging you more for a flight because they swapped your MD-80 for a 747... I didn't ASK them to change our cruise.
