Has anyone ever heard of someone being automatically upgraded by the cruise line? My sister in law was book for a Junior suite and just recieved her tickets and was upgraded to an Grand Suite to her surprise and delight! It was at no addition cost to her!

ParrotTops,

this is a great article about upgrades and why the cruise lines offer them.

Thanks Raoul! That was a very informative article! Do you think the upgraded had anything to do with her being Platinum of the Crown and Anchor?

ParrotTops,

that could very well be possible. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

My husband and I just got back from our first cruise and had a wonderful time...we had booked early for a balcony stateroom and when we arrived had been upgraded to a junior suite...it was wonderfull...the only thing we could think of (other than that we booked early) was that we had booked an adjoining balcony stateroom and maybe someone booking later needed that so we were upgraded...is that possible? thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for the excellent article on upgrades.
After 12 cruises I suggest that you select your cabin and do not worry about upgrades. I had the unfortunate experience of going TBA - 14 day cruise to Europe (least expensive cabin) and found out that when my cabin was assigned, that my cabin was one of the worst on the ship. Fortunately we were able to find another cruise that had a cabin in a much better location (outside as compared to inside)and the itinerary was also much more interesting.

I would go TBA if the price is right but these days that is very rare.

Fred
