Anyone know if cruise ships are avoiding ports in Mexico because of the flu virus going around.

I just read that Princess' Sapphire Princess is substituting San Diego and Catalina Island for Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. I don't know for how long, but there is only one more cruise this season, on May 2nd.

I have a friend on Enchantment of the Seas right now; she just e-mailed me that the port call at Cozumel was cancelled.

I also read that Carnival had cancelled Mexican ports, but I can't recall which ones.

Better safe then sorry.Liberty of the Sea is going to Coco Cay instead to Mexico. Coco Cay Bahamas is beautiful little private island.

Yeah, it is better to err on the side of caution. I'm hoping that by the time my cruise comes (late September) things will be back to normal. As it stands now, the itinerary for my ship (Enchantment of the Seas; 5 night Western Caribbean Cruise, leaving Saturday September 19), is revised, in that they are doing Ocho Rios, Jamaica instead of Cozumel.

If this outbreak continues that long, I may have to reconsider what I want to do in Grand Cayman. I haven't booked any excursions yet, as it is still a ways off.

We will wait 2-3 weeks before cancelling excursions for Cozumel. We are living June 27 with Libery of the Sea.I hope things will be back to normal if not Coco Cay is nice.I feel bad for my friends coming from Europa, they all like to see Mexico.

As Michael mentioned (thank you!), Royal Caribbean is updating us on its itinerary changes on its Web site. Click here for details of specific port cancellations and substitutions. Those booked on Mariner of the Seas, please note substantial changes.

As of April 28, the changes are as follows:

East coast cruises will not stop at Cozumel. (I believe this is the first I've heard of any line regarding Cozumel.)

Enchantment of the Seas: The 4-night itineraries will include more time in Key West and will substitue Nassau. Five-night Monday departures will include more time in Key West plus a sea day. Five-night Monday departures will substitue Ocho Rios.

Freedom of the Seas: Will include more time in George Town, Grand Cayman, plus a sea day.

Liberty of the Seas: Will reroute to Coco Cay instead.

West Coast and repositioning cruises

Mariner of the Seas: Completely new itinerary, visiting San Francisco, Victoria, and Seattle. The May 10 cruise will call on Astoria (Oregon) rather than San Francisco. This impacts all sailings through mid-June. The line is offering rebooking options. Call your TA or a special Royal Caribbean help desk (1-800-327-6700) for more information.

Serendade of the Seas: Will substitue San Diego for Cabo San Lucas.

Radiance of the Seas: Will substitute an overnight call on San Diego and add a sea day, in lieu of cancelling Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas.

I've stickied this post so that we will have the most current information more easily found.
