we are going on this cruise 2-7-09, so if no one else post, I will try to remember to post when I get back for you!

Does anyone have any input about this ship recently?

My husband and I cruised on Grandeur in January 2008 and we were not overly impressed. We have cruised with RCC on the Sovereign of the Seas 3 times before, and we may have been a little spoiled on "our ship". The Grandeur seemed to be an older ship... we could see paint chipping in some places. Also, we could feel the ship rocking much more than on the Sovereign. There was not a chocolate buffet, but from reading some of the older posts, you will see that may have become the norm on the shorter cruises. Also, the food was not as good in my opinion.

Now, that being said... We had a wonderful cruise and the staff was very nice and attentive. Besides, any day on a cruise beats a day at the office.

We are sailing on her 2-2 and will be sure to give updates on 2-9 in time for your cruise. I have sailed this ship before, and prefer this class of ship, see my list....We leave on 2-1, and am iritated by this Superbowl mess I have gotten myself into but have overcome most of the problems....afterall, as was just said there is a cruise on 2-2 waiting for us !

We are just back from Grandeur's 4-night cruise from Tampa to Cozumel with two days at sea.

Grandeur is in very good shape. I can't really fault the cleanliness of the staterooms or public areas. Cabin service was very good (we were on Deck 3 in an Ocean View room).

Dining room service was good and we never felt rushed. We found the food to be just ok. It was presented beautifully, but was not remarkable in any way. We had some special diets at our table (low salt and/or salt free) and the kitchen was very accommodating, although we had made a special food request for low salt when we reserved the cruise, but the waitress knew nothing about it and the kitchen was sending out the same food as everyone else's. Once the waitress knew about the special request, she gave us the following night's menu each night so that we could choose what we wanted and the kitchen did, in fact, prepare it according to our special needs.

Entertainment was two big production shows, one magician one night, and a first-night get acquainted show. There were several types of comedy and game shows we did not attend.

The pool area is large with a lot of beach chairs around. We never had trouble finding a chair. We spent a lot of time in the Solarium, which is next to the pool area but blocks out all the loud bands, belly flop contest, etc. The spa and gym are entered through the Solarium. There are two hot tubs in the Solarium and two in the pool area. Spa services seemed to be on the pricey side, although repeat cruisers have a coupon for a discount.

There are plenty of computers in the internet cafe, plus many WiFi hotspots around the ship. No WiFi is available in the staterooms. The library and game room were always empty and a quiet place to get away to. Many photographs were taken. We bought an 8x10 for $19.95.

Embarkation and disembarkation were very fast and uncomplicated. We were off the ship before 8am.

I think our next RCI cruise will be on a bigger ship and longer itinerary. But we did have a good time.

We took the Grandeur last May to Bermuda out of Baltimore. Yes - it was an older ship but still in very nice condition - the captain was just like Bob Newhart - very funny. The ship is easy to navigate - the casino is dated and small - the food was OK - no complaints.
