I've been a cruiser for 2 years now and done 3 different class of ships. We have 5 more cruises booked with rccl in the next 2 years we will then be a diamond member. With all the cut backs and negative points with rccl I read on this forum I think it will be time for change, when looking at different cruse lines out there itinerarys seem so much better. Can anyone tell us the right cruise to go for as my rccl days are coming to an end sadly.
I would highly recommend sitting down with a cruise oriented travel agent that can qualify you. No one here knows your demographics, likes and dislikes, your expectations in a cruise vacation, or your life style. It is hard to go back and forth in type. Speak with a travel agent where each of you can get instant feed back and ask more questions if needed. A TA will point out the pros and cons of a cruise line and tell you why it may or may not be right for you. The majority of answers you will get on cruise chat and will be biased. It will be in your interest to sit down and talk with an unbiased professional.
There are cut backs and negative things about every line. It is the age we live in: poor economy, high food and fuel costs. Insurance--well let's not get started. The important thing is, before you throw the baby out with the bathwater: Are you happy with the product you receive from RCCL?
We are not happy with some of the changes happening, but remain loyal to RCCL because the product offered is still the best fit and value for our situation. Please base your decision making on your own experience. Are you going to change who you vote for because someone down the street from you says negative things about your candidate?

And wouldn't the neighbor down the street be the same as the biased opinion? Which is why I recommended the professional cruise oriented Travel Agent. Even a Travel Agent that recommends only one cruise line, and that one cruise line only, is not being unbiased. You need to find a Cruise Oriented Travel Agent that is willing to point out the pros and cons of the different cruise lines you may be interested in.
How does someone know if one cruise line is the perfect fit if they don't try another cruise line? It may feel very comfortable because that's all you've known. It doesn't prove it is the perfect fit when you haven't tried others. You can always go back, but you don't know until you try. It's always hard to look at something new when you've become comfortable with the old. Some people fear change, but some are glad they changed when they over come that fear.
i think you should go and try another cruise line...not because of what RCCL is doing, but because it will be a new experience for you
when you try others, you can experience the little differences between each line for yourself, instead of having to listen to biased opinions....and who knows, maybe you will discover that you really love a different line better....or you might find that RCCL is really the best for you, and you can return to them and enjoy your diamond levels perks without wondering what you might be missing elsewhere
Just interested in why exactly you feel you would like to change from RCCL? I've been on my second cruise with them and really found them excellent, and while I was lying by the pool two weeks ago on Liberty I couldnt help hear a conversation of a couple who were speaking to another guy who was lying near them, it was both their first time cruising with RCCL, they had previously been with I think Carnival but wouldnt be 100% sure, they thought that by far Royal Caribbean were the best, they felt some were too 'party' orientated others too boring but RCCL like goldilocks was 'just right'! I was delighted because I have no other cruise line to compare my holiday with so when I heard that they were very good after others who have 'shopped' around I felt great!
One thing I will say however, is that we went on a Med cruise on Voyager and while the ship was fantastic and everything on board great Liberty and the Caribbean was a much more relaxing itinerary and laid back with the reggae music by the pool etc
Like everyone said its whatever you're into and if you feel you need to change you might give it a go and give us all your feedback!
would love to hear the reasons for you thinking of changing though!
I think it's always good to mix it up. I started off many years ago on Sitmar and then Princess.I like the fresh water pools on princess along with the best pizza on the high seas. That said I just made Diamond plus on RCCL and do enjoy the extra perks but after so many cruises the shows get a little stale and mixing up cruise lines keeps it fresh.
The last 5 years we have been rotating to the all-inclusives and we find they have everything a ship has but the casino, and you DON'T get bill at the end of the week. We still try to cruise at least once a year but variety is the spice of life.
friends of mine felt the rccl shows are repeated quite a lot, I would hate it if the shows were repeated as the cruise costs enough at least we want to ensure that different shows would be available, which cruise line would you recommend next to RCCL for variety?
I think it really depends on your age.I went on Holland America a couple years back and I swear the drink of the day was Ensure every other day. The entertainment was catered to that crowd. We are in are early 50's with kids 18-30 and we find rccl to rotate there shows very well however Many of the Entertainers jump from ship to ship and line to line so quite often you see the same act on different lines.I did Princess repositioning where we were on the last 7 days of a 21 day cruise so alot of people had already been on 14 days. There were only a few people on deck for the sail away party and no pool band but that also was because not alot of people can take that long of a cruise unless your retired so I guess my point is there are more factors envolved than just the line you are traveling...Casey
