Has anyone ever cruised in one of these cabins? We are planning to do the April 2007 transatlantic from Miami to Southampton. These cabins are listed as being a bit larger than standard insides and have a window overlooking the promenade. Questions: do you suffer any/much noise from the Promenade? Can you see into the cabins from the promenade? Any feedback would be welcomed.

Hi,

I have never had one of these cabins but when we were on the Voyager 2 years ago I went into one out of curiousity. They are, IMO, a little nicer than an inside because of the window seat and facing the promenade. However, you face another promenade stateroom, so from what I could see there wasn't much of a point of having the curtains open. I believe you can see into them from the promenade, but they are at least one floor above it. I can't say about noise, although I would guess that like most cabins they are pretty well sound-proofed. My take would be that if the price is the same as an inside, they might be a little nicer; if you have to pay a premium, I would stay in a regular inside for privacy. Hope this helps.

Hi,
We had an inside Promenade cabin. I'd rather be in a balcony for the price. My advice is to try it. You may like it more than we did. It is interesting to watch people meandering around the Promendade deck. Looking out from a balcony in the evening in serene. I think it's the fresh air I desire that makes a balcony cabin my choice.

Just got off of her this morning. I didn't have the cabin in question however my only concern would be noise especially from the 'Mardi Gras' parade which takes place at 11:30 P.M. in the promenade. It's a pretty big event so I would suspect you might hear something.

Overall a very nice ship but I think I'll pass on these mega-ships next time. Windjammer Cafe VERY crowded during breakfast and lunch. Prepare to wait awhile for elevators. Lots of kids doing the usual hyper behavior and carrying on. Not many people dress up for the formal nights. Saw people wearing jeans and shorts (not in the dining room) but everywhere else.

Again beautiful ship but I didn't care much for the majority of the passengers. Too much like a Disney World resort atmosphere. Good luck with your cruise.

Hi, Matt,

Interesting comment about the mega-ships. I felt the same way when I was on the Voyager two years ago, that the ship was just too big, too crowded. somewhat gaudy and the crowd wasn't quite up to snuff. Thought I was the only one, since everyone else raves about these ships. (My teens did like it a lot too, I might add). I much prefer the Vision class in size and atmosphere. Despite this we're going on the Explorer in a few weeks because the itinerary fit into our schedule, but it may be my last mega-cruise. Will be interesting to see if my experience is the same on this one.

Thank you to everyone for your feedback. As it is a transatlantic I suspect that there will be very few children on board. We have decided to go for it and try these unique cabins. we will let you know what we think about them.
