We are planning on booking a cruise next spring on the Voyager. I am looking at an aft balcony. What is your opinion regarding these rooms. Is this a good choice? My only concern is they are off the beaten path from everything. All opinions are welcome!!!
We just came off the Explorer, which is the same class as the Voyager. We had cabin 1694, 10th deck. The cabin was spacious and accomodated the four of us nicely. The balcony was huge. Our only complaint was that the rear structure of the ship made it like looking through a football helmet. Reserve a corner cabin for a much less restricted view. The balcony will be a little smaller, but you'll have an unobstructed view. Aft balconies, depending on whether you're high or low, you will be looking down on the balcony below you (which could be exciting or revolting, depending on...), or you will have someone looking down on you (which could be exciting or revolting depending on....). I'd go with the 10th deck, corner cabin. 1694 was dead middle of the ship.
Oh yeah, I don't take credit for the looking through a football helmet analogy; someone gave that to me prior to our cruise. It was right on.
Sonny made a similar suggestion to me, after I booked. Where were you when I needed you, Sonny?
Let me state, for the record, we loved the cabin and have no regrets about choosing 1694.
GC,
Love that post. It had me rolling , also I enjoyed your trigonometry lesson on the cruise ship credit card. It brought back memories of high school. Thank you

I just sailed Voyager in March and my friends had a corner aft balcony room, the balcony was HUGE! Would definitely book that myself next time I cruise!

Goin' Crusin', we did Explorer and were on deck seven, starboard with balcony. On several occassions I watched smoke curl around the side of the ship towards the back; does this cause any problems with rear or side balconies?
I have the aft corner balcony on my Liberty cruise. I've been in an aft balcony about 8 times and remember smelling a faint diesel odor only one time. If conditions were right I suppose you could have a little problem. I haven't heard of anyone complaining about it.
We were aft, dead middle and had no problem. I noticed that the exhaust trailed to the left (starboard?) as I looked out from my balcony. However, it didn't seem to affect anyone.
