I admit to being a lobster snob...I live in New England and we crack them with our hands.
I've always felt that lobster is best served in a casual atmosphere. A roast on a beach or a boil with newspapers laid down on the table. It is more fun that way too.

Dave, those are indeed the best places to enjoy lobster. Now I want some.

I do order lobster occasionally on ships. It's pretty much hit or miss. Yet, I wouldn't want to see it eliminated as it is a highlight for many.

Helloo

Where do I find that there is a steak surcharge? I have yet to read of this, and this is my first time hearing of it? Is it 15.00 for each person???
Can you also tell me what ships have lobster? We will be sailing on Independence in December.
Thanks
Darcie and Dennis

RCI is testing an extra-fee steak in the main dining room on the Freedom Of The Seas, and on the Majesty Of The Seas. On the Freedom it is the only steak alternative, and it costs $14.95. So yes, it is per person if they each want steak. On the Majesty you can still get a steak for no extra charge or you can buy the "nicer" one.

Other than that, menus are pretty much standardized across the fleet. As the subject of this thread indicates, RCI is in the process of eliminating lobster. I wouldn't expect to see it on the Independence or any other ship in the near future.

So, let me get this straight... I worked for years to become a diamond member and they want to reward my efforts by eliminating the one meal that I enjoy above all others. Thanks RCL. I have been wanting to attain diamond+ but I am suddenly drawn to other pursuits now.

Actually after looking around the internet this morning, I am not sure if they are eliminating it or not, but reports earlier this year said they were because of some world wide lobster shortage. Since then it seems hit and miss. Some ships didn't have it, some did, and some still do serve it. I'm not sure what the real story is. Perhaps it depends on the cruise length.
