Hi, I'm a newbie to cruising. My wife and I are going on a 7 day caribbean cruise on the navigator of the seas sept. 2. We have no idea how much money to take or where we will need it. Does the casino stay open all night? Does anyone know what the table games minimum bets are? Thanks
The casino's are open till 2am, I think. As for the minimums, 5.00 on some tables, and up from there.
We usually budget our casino cash to 100.00 per day. My wife likes the slots (big money eater) As for other cash, liquor drinks, gift shop and fancy coffee eat up cash as well. Drinks range from 4.00 to 9.00. If you get the fruity fancy drinks, tell them you do not want the take home glass. The drinks end up 3.00 cheaper.
We usally bring cash for the casinos and for extras when at port. Most of the small shop/vendors at the ports only take cash. Everything you buy on the ship will be charged to your sea pass. You can even get cash for the casino on your sea pass. OOH you will also need cash when you tip for room service. So really not that much, maybe $1000.00 or less.
Other uses for cash: tips for guides on shore excursions, cab fares if you travel on your own in the ports, meals & tips before or after the cruise (or food in the airport), and small items/souvenirs you may buy in the ports. Lola's estimate of $1000 is perhaps a bit high, but not if you plan to gamble!
