Hi just paid in full for my May cruise and had to pay an additional 240.00 for fuel surcharge because I have 3 rooms. Has anyone else experience this? I have written RCCL through email to see what they can do but no response yet. Any ideas?

All cruise lines have begun charging a fuel supplement.

It was in November that all the cruise lines added fuel charges. I'm surprised you weren't notified about the charge earlier.

I had to pay $140 more for a cruise I booked over six months ago. The only way to get from paying a fuel surcharge is to stop going on cruises.

I always wondered (when the airlines started it) why don't they just raise the fare? That is basically what they are doing anyway.

I suppose their thinking is that they can continue to advertize a lower price & adjust the total to include the fuel surcharge (which is adjustable)later on.

It is the same game they play with port charges and taxes; to make your fare look competetive you give the fare-only price; then you pile on all the extras. It would be nice if they "standardized" fare prices to include everything--but you KNOW that is not going to happen.
